In December of 2008 Brian Hartenstein and family left America for an adventurous life overseas to live and work throughout Asia, raising three daughters with a sense of wonder and awe at the possibility of the world. It is now 2016 and the adventure continues back home in Oregon. This blog remains as a time capsule to that period. Thank you so much to all our friends around the world. Please stay in touch. We miss you all!

An Update on the Hartenstein Girls
Many of you have been writing and asking about my daughters. It's been a while since a Hartenstein Girl update...so here goes.
Kinu is rocking! She loves swinging and baking cookies and reading a book called Hugless Douglas that her Grammy sent. She has over 200 stars on the white board of her classroom (a record) and can repeat her sister Rebekah's kindergarten speech while dancing to the Monkey's Daydream Believer.
Rebekah is so much fun! She has every kid in her class's speech memorized and often holds reading time in the corner where she pretends to be a teacher and reads to the other students. Her teacher, Dora, pulled out her front tooth with tissue paper... which the Tooth Fairy forgot about...(Nice one, Dad!) who quickly pulled a fast switcheroo... that sweet Rebekah let him off the hook for.
Xian is growing too big for her own clothes, loves playing soccer against boys, singing Beatles songs, drawing mermaids, and pretending to be a caterpillar. Oh yes, we're happy as can be.
