In December of 2008 Brian Hartenstein and family left America for an adventurous life overseas to live and work throughout Asia, raising three daughters with a sense of wonder and awe at the possibility of the world. It is now 2016 and the adventure continues back home in Oregon. This blog remains as a time capsule to that period. Thank you so much to all our friends around the world. Please stay in touch. We miss you all!

The Great Missing Shakespeare Poster Mystery
It's not a conspiracy against you, Hartenstein! Just shut up, I know... but not five minutes after our school performance, not one poster of our Shakespeare adaptation Julius Scissorhands remained up on the school walls...all torn down and all disposed of secretly. Oh, but anything that promotes the SCHOOL whether it was some kid whose parents were rich enough to send them to Canada...those kids have posters...or if a student won a speech contest three months ago... those posters are still up...even the styrofoam Halloween pumpkin and the Christmas tree in the lobby are still up... but a school play that addresses bullying in school? Nope! What play?
