Yossarian 2016

"After he made up his mind to spend the rest of the war in the hospital, Yossarian wrote letters to everyone he knew saying that he was in the hospital but never mentioned why. One day he had a better idea.  To everyone he knew he wrote that he was going on a very dangerous mission.  'They asked for volunteers.  It's very dangerous, but someone has to do it.  I'll write you the instant I get back.'  And he had not written anyone since."  - Catch 22

Happy New Year, Everyone.

  1. Dear Brian,

It has been so long. What is your e-mail address or snail mail address these days? I would love to write you a letter as you come in and out of thoughts over the moons and through the years. I pray that you are well.
I am in Ireland, (Scotland at the moment) connecting with my ancestral roots, deepening my study of traditional Irish basketry and falling in love with the beauty and heartbreak of the world. I feel that your support and inspiration you offered me as a youth has greatly guided my path and tended to my wonder in the world. I'll write more in a letter! Much warmth and blessings your way

  3. Rose,

The other day I was sitting in Ashland watching Twelfth Night rather tragically attempting to trace braille lines to the play with my fingers in the dark... when I came upon this line, "But rather reason thus with reason fetter, love sought is good, but given unsought is better."

Thank you for writing to me and for your kind words. All warmth and blessings your way as well.
